JP: Japanese Traditional Comedy?

My foreigners know Geisha. Maybe Kabuki… Not so many people know Rakugo (“落語”) All of these are traditional culture. Rakugo is a short stand-up comedy which traced back to 17th century. (By the way the storyteller always sit on Japanese cushion with Kimono during the session.)   Yes, it is hard to understand unless you are fluent in Japanese. Do not be so disappointed yet! Rakugo offers not only story but also magic, music entertainment. The entertainers specialize in different performance. And it is by far inexpensive than playing with Geisha or watching Kabuki.

There are several spots you could go. More traditional place, casual cafe  In fact even if you do not really watch it, you can enjoy there. The place itself is unique and a lot of cultural atmosphere.
